Arsenic, a naturally occurring semi-metal element in the periodic table, may appear in drinking water as a result of agricultural runoff, mining operations, certain metal-related industries, and/or simply from the ground itself. In low concentrations arsenic in water has no color, no taste, and no odor so detect arsenic one must use an arsenic test kit such as the Arsenic Quick Test Kit or send the water out to a laboratory for analysis. The USEPA has set the maximum contaminant level (MCL) for arsenic in drinking water at 10 ppb (parts per billion). Once you've tested your water and determined that you have arsenic to remove, you will need to choose the correct arsenic removal filter for the job.
